About Lake Macquarie BBQ Facilities

Lake Macquarie has BBQ areas throughout the region. A downloadable BBQ areas guide is available on the Visit Lake Mac website.

Can I bring my own BBQ to parks in Lake Macquarie?

While many parks allow portable BBQs, policies vary between councils. Most councils:

 • Restrict or ban charcoal BBQs in public spaces due to fire risk and cleanup concerns
 • May restrict gas BBQs during total fire ban days or high fire danger periods
 • Require BBQs to be elevated off the ground (not directly on grass) and attended at all times when in use
 • Expect you to clean up completely after use

Please check with Lake Macquarie for their specific policy. For general advice, see our guide: Can I bring my own BBQ to a park or beach?

Can I book a BBQ facility for exclusive use?

Most BBQs are first-come, first-served. Larger events may need council approval.

How do I report a fault or issue with a BBQ facility?

If you encounter issues with a BBQ facility, please report them to Lake Macquarie. Common issues include:

 • BBQ not working - not heating, ignition problems, gas issues
 • Damaged facilities - broken hotplates, damaged tables/shelters
 • Safety hazards - exposed wiring, structural damage
 • Cleanliness issues - excessive grease buildup, vandalism

Report faults directly to Lake Macquarie via their website or customer service line. Quick reporting helps keep facilities safe and functional for everyone.
